The Department of MSE holds“2015 Inorganic Nano Energy Materials Seminar”

From December 4 to 6, 2015, “2015 Inorganic Nano Energy Materials Seminar”, hosted by the Department of Materials Science and Engineering and co-hosted by the Department of Chemistry and Shenzhen Society of Chemistry and Chemical Industry, was held in the 110 Lecture Hall of the Library. The seminar has invited academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Chinese Academy of Engineering, “Outstanding Youth”, Chang Jiang Scholars and “The One Thousand Talents Plan” scholars, young scholars active in the inorganic nano energy materials field and other relevant leading-edge fields, as well as representatives of renowned local enterprises in Shenzhen in the field of energy materials, to discuss in-depth some leading-edging and hot topics about inorganic nano energy materials.

 President Chen Shiyi of SUSTC attended the opening ceremony and gave a speech. Vice President Wu Chuanyue gave a detailed introduction to the running situation of SUSTC and its future development direction and goals. Mr. Gao Jianguang, representative of Shenzhen Commission of Innovation and Technology introduced technology innovation management, development and support policies of Shenzhen for the new materials and new energy field. Professor Cheng Xin, director of the Department of Materials Science and Engineering, introduced the development situation and future planning of the Department. Over 180 renowned experts and scholars in the inorganic nano energy materials field and relevant leading-edge fields from renowned Chinese and foreign universities and research institutes including the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Tsinghua University, Peking University, the University of Science and Technology of China, Nanjing University, the University of Hong Kong and Nanyang Technological University, gave 46 wonderful reports in the two-day seminar.

Experts exchange ideas

 

The seminar, including both representation and discussion, involved a variety of subjects including theoretical calculation, preparation methods, component assembly and industrial application of relevant inorganic nano materials in battery, super-capacitor, hydrogen production and storage, carbon dioxide capture and transformation and energy catalysis. The seminar has provided a high-end communication platform for the inorganic energy materials circles and has played an active role in strengthening the cooperation and communication among peers in the inorganic nano energy materials field and improving the academic status and influence of SUSTC, scholars in the energy materials field in Shenzhen and new energy related industries.
